Kahmann Sense

Well, school is back in session and it’s wonderful to see all of the smiling faces on the students - especially the youngsters. There were only a couple instances of kindergartners having separation anxiety – I feel so bad for those little ones. But they’ll be fine once they realize that school here at MQH is awesome!!! I always love eating lunch with the kindergartners the first few weeks of a new school year – they are hilarious!!

Our annual fundraiser The Knights of the Round Table is coming up on Saturday night, November 15. This is an important fundraiser that supports our school and every year we honor a person (or two) as the Distinguished Knight. This year I’m very proud to announce that this years Distinguished Knights will be.......drum roll please.....our Maintenance Committee!!! Woo-Hoo!!!  Ever since I’ve been here at MQH I’ve been blown away at the dedication and hard work of our Maintenance Committee. They’re the glue that keeps our parish and school in tip-top shape!! So this is the year that we as a parish will say “Thank You” by honoring them as the Distinguished Knights!!

And this honor isn’t just for the current Maintenance Committee but also for past members of the Committee who are still parishioners of MQH. We’re in the process of planning a date to have a big group picture of the Maintenance Committee taken. I have contact information for current Committee members, but if you are a past member of the Committee and would like to be a part of this picture and/or attend the event (free admission), please call Jenny at 525-6909 by September 17.

Our Parish Mission Outreach Day is quickly approaching – it’ll be Saturday morning, September 20 from 9am-1pm. This year we’ll be helping out at the Diocesan Catholic Children’s Home in Ft. Mitchell and also the Rose Garden Mission (run by the Franciscan Daughters of Mary) in Covington. One of the ways in which we live out our faith is through service to others. There will be various jobs and tasks to be done – so join us in giving of our time and talent!! To volunteer, just call Jenny at 525-6909 or on the web go to http://vols.pt/P2tjQw.

I want to wish a happy retirement to Nancy Brewer!!  She retired from being our coordinator of bringing Holy Communion to our homebound parishioners. Nancy has been an important part of my staff and I’m sure she’ll be spending much more time with her grandchildren!!  Ssoooo, with Nancy retiring – I need some help. I’m looking for a volunteer to take over her position to bring Holy Communion to our homebound. If someone has some spare time, please prayerfully consider this very important ministry. Bringing our Lord to parishioners who can’t make it to Mass keeps them connected to our parish in a tangible way and, even more importantly, keeps them close to our Lord. We typically have about 4-6 parishioners who need Communion brought to them weekly. Communion can be brought to the homebound any day of the week – so the scheduling is very flexible. If this is a ministry you’re interested in, please give me a call (525-6909) or drop me an email at kkahmann@mqhparish.com.

I’m sure you’ve noticed that our normal Tabernacle is missing – don’t worry, it wasn’t stolen. The doors of the Tabernacle haven’t been working properly – so our experts (the aforementioned Maintenance crew!!) are looking at it. It’ll be back before you know it!!

I’m really, really excited about the Bengals this year – uh, kinda like I was really, really excited about the Reds when their season started – hopefully the outcome will be different!!! WHO-DEY!!!

Peace & grace, Fr. Kevin

Caregivers Corner

Will I ever be ready? Will I ever be ready to really let go? We, caregivers, have no idea when our jobs will end. We are not wishing that our loved ones die, yet we see the daily struggles, frustration and pain that they bear. We know that "God, Who has prepared for those who love Him, good things," Collect, 20th Sunday in Ordinary Time, has prepared a place so wonderful that, "eye has not seen, ear has not heard, and what has not entered into the hu-man heart what God has prepared for those who love Him," 1Corinthians 2:9. That sounds awfully good to me. In addition, Isaiah 56:1 prophesied, "My salvation is about to come." Wow! But he said that a long time ago. We just don't have a clue when to expect it, which means we must always be ready. My loved one was just anointed. He is ready. I guess I best get to confession so I am a bit more ready, too. Please pray for the sick and suffering.
