Kahmann Sense….

The DPAA is underway!!! Our parish goal for this year’s DPAA is $95,800. That’s over $10,000 more than our goal last year. But our goal, as always, isn’t just to reach the $95,800 - we want to go past it - WAY past it - because as you know, everything collected above our goal comes directly back to us for use in our parish.

Like many people, I have always kept track of how parishes do in reaching their DPAA goal. Often during the DPAA, the last page of the Messenger shows how parishes are doing in regards to their goal. And Mary, Queen of Heaven’s numbers have always jumped off the page - our goal isn’t just

exceeded by a little - but by a lot, a whole lot. I have always been impressed by that and it’s something that we as a parish should be proud of. Mary, Queen of Heaven truly has the heart of Christ when it comes to helping others.

I know financially these are hard times - the economy isn’t great. I would ask that each of you take time to consider what you’re able to give to the DPAA this year. Because our goal is $10,000 more than last year, I increased the amount I gave this year and I ask each of you to prayerfully consider doing the same.

Every dollar over our goal comes directly back to us for our use. We have a great parish - but it takes a lot of money to keep things running right and looking nice. There’s never a shortage of things that need to be done - so your money will be put to good use. If you have any questions about filling out the pledge/commitment form - just ask me or call our parish office (859-525-6909) and Lori Spencer will help you.

I would like to thank ALL of the volunteers who helped make this year’s Fish Fry a SMASHING success!!! A lot of hard work was done - but it was also a lot of fun!! It’s only because of our volunteers that we can pull off such a fantastic event like our famous Fish Fry. THANK YOU for your dedication and effort - it is greatly appreciated!!!

When Pope-emeritus Benedict XVI resigned from the papacy, we took down his picture from the vestibule area. As soon as we find a suitable picture of Pope Francis - he’ll be put up in the same spot. Eventually, the picture of Pope-emeritus Benedict will be hung in the narthex. There’s a picture of Pope John Paul II hanging above the water fountain in the narthex and Benedict will be placed on the wall opposite from him. We’ll have the beginnings of a Hall of Past Popes. ☺

Well, the college basketball championship is where it belongs, and where it was last year, in the great state of Kentucky!! Louisville was impressive in winning their first National Title since 1986 (I wonder what Never-Nervous Purvis Ellison is doing nowadays?) College basketball in Kentucky is awesome

and will be again next year!!! UK is re-loading with an outstanding recruiting class - 6 McDonald’s AllAmericans - yikes!! And Louisville only has 1 senior in its top 9 players. Is it too early to predict UK against UL for the title next year?? ☺ College basketball rules…but not during baseball season!! Now

it’s REDS time - hopefully this is the year!! ☺ Expectations are high - we’ll see if they’re up to it.

Peace & grace,

Fr. Kevin

Time to Re-Enroll in the Kroger’s Community Rewards
Program   (Click)

You may recall that the new Kroger’s Community Rewards Program requires that you reenroll every year in order for the parish to receive funds from this program. If you were enrolled previously, the process to reenroll is simple. You just need to go the www.kroger.com and sign in to your account. Once you are signed in, click on “My Account” and then select “Community Rewards” near the bottom of the page. The number for Mary, Queen of Heaven is 80839. Once this is entered, it will bring up our account. Select our account and click Save. That’s all there is to it. If you need help with this process, please call Lori in the Parish Office at 859-525-6909. If you were not previously enrolled in the program, you will need to set up an account that will be linked to your Kroger Plus Card. Last year we earned $2,765.00 from this program. All monies received from this program fund our parish youth group activities.
