BOY SCOUTS: Boy Scouts

Meetings: Meet once a week usually on Tuesdays at 6:30 PM. Purpose:
The purpose of Boy Scouts of America is to provide an educational program
for boys and young adults, to build character, to train in the
responsibilities of practicing good citizenship, and to develop personal
fitness by preparing them to make ethical and moral choices over their
lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
COMMUNITY SERVICE GROUP: Chairperson: Anne Sturgis

Meetings: Once per month usually on the second Saturday at
11:00 AM. Participation: Volunteer. Purpose: To serve
the larger community by organizing food drives for the needy; providing
Christmas gifts to agencies for distribution; hosting parties for the
Diocesan Children's Home; providing Easter baskets for underprivileged
children, local police and fire departments, and women's crisis centers.
The group also organizes the parish clean-up day and many other community
service projects.
GIRL
SCOUTS: Troop Leader:

Meetings: Usually two meetings per month depending on the
troop. Purpose: The Girl Scout program is girl-driven,
reflecting the ever-changing needs and interests of participating girls. It
provides girls with a wide variety of opportunities. The program encourages
increased skill building, responsibility, and also promotes the development
of strong leadership and decision-making skills. All program activities are
age-appropriate and based on the Four Program Goals as well as on the Girl
Scout Promise and Law.
HEALTH
MINISTRY: Chairperson: Diane Enzweiler

Meetings: As needed. Participation: Volunteer.
Must have a background in the health care field. Purpose: The
purpose of the Parish Health Ministry is to strengthen our parish community
by promoting wellness of body, mind and spirit. Our goal is to promote a
healthier parish community. This is accomplished by developing and
organizing programs to educate all parishioners about health care issues,
practices, and resources.
KNIGHTS
OF COLUMBUS: Grand Knight: David M. Biery

Meetings: First and third Monday’s of the month in the
library at Mary, Queen of Heaven School.
Participation: Catholic men volunteers. Purpose: To
support the parish, school, and local community.
MAINTENANCE:

Meetings: Quarterly, special meetings as needed. Participation:
Appointed by the Pastor. Must have a construction background. Purpose:
To ensure that the campus is adequately maintained, to ensure a safe and
pleasant experience for all persons and parishioners and to provide timely
and relevant information to the Pastor regarding maintenance of the
facilities.
PARENT

Participation: Must be a parent or guardian of a Mary, Queen
of Heaven School Student or a Teacher. Purpose: The PTO's
main function is to raise funds to assist the school with activities such
as classroom parties, field trips, purchasing equipment, etc.
RESPECT
LIFE COMMITTEE:

Volunteer. Purpose:
To increase an awareness of the sanctity of life from conception to a
natural death. To raise funds to assist the homes for unwed mothers. Activities:
March for Life in Washington, DC, baby bottle campaign, obtain signatures
for Right to Life advertisement in the Kentucky Post, Right to Life Masses.
SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL COMMITTEE: Chairperson:

Meetings: Third Saturday of the month at 9:00 AM. Participation:
Volunteer. Purpose: Offer tangible assistance to those in
need on a person-to-person basis. Help with rent/mortgage assistance,
utility assistance, clothing, furniture, emergency shelter and pharmacy.
WELCOMING/HOSPITALITY
COMMITTEE:

Meetings: As needed. Participation: Volunteer:
Must be congenial, outgoing and willing to spend many hours decorating,
cooking, baking and serving. Purpose: Welcome new
parishioners in the parish with gift bags containing various items and
parish information. Host parties including the annual Mardi Gras party and
the reception following the Queenship of Mary Celebration, as well as the
reception after all Easter Masses. Many other events are coordinated
through this committee such as coffee and donuts, pancake breakfasts and
other receptions.
